We work with Tonbridge and Malling Borough Council to blitz graffiti. Our team went to the River Lawn area of Tonbridge earlier this year. Using our specialist equipment we removed heavy graffiti from two walls and continue to support Tonbridge council with its clean up campaign. A person inside the home this morning (January 22) did not wish to speak to Bristol Live.

But a professional graffiti remover, who had spent several hours washing off some of the paint, revealed he was “quite shocked” by what had happened.

The Graffiti Busters employee, named Michael, said: “It doesn’t seem the place – it seems out of place. You might see it in London but not round here.”

Michael said he and his colleague Ian had been instructed to remove any racism terms after their Kent head office received a phone call from an insurance company.

Michael, who said he had worked for the business for a couple of years, added that they had also removed graffiti on paintwork during their five-hour spell at the property.

The paint was washed off with chemicals and a high-pressure jet stream, according to Michael.

A TOWN’S war memorial has been brought ‘back to life’ after vandals defaced it with an offensive symbol.

It was discovered last month that vandals had scrawled a swastika on the Connah’s Quay and Shotton war memorial, which caused outrage across the town.

Despite being cleaned by Flintshire Council’s Streetscene officers, the outline of the swastika could still be seen.

The Leader has previously reported that a national company, based in Kent, offered to clean the graffiti and the memorial free of charge.

Graffiti Busters were featured on the BBC Three Sketch show “Going Native.”

A NATIONAL cleaning company has stepped in to help remove the two-week old graffiti from a town’s war memorial.

Residents were left outraged after discovering a swastika on the Connah’s Quay and Shotton war memorial, across the plate commemorating those that fought for their country.

The outline of the graffiti can still be seen despite officers from Flintshire Council’s Streetscene trying to remove it.

The Leader has previously reported that they were limited to what they can do without causing damage but a national company had offered to clear it using specialist equipment.

Newquay BID has funded several key activities to tidy up the town this month. The activities included removal of defunct or defaced posts, in a collaborative project with Newquay Town Council. Alongside removal of stickers and cleaning of various sign posts, which is ongoing and will see further works carried out. Finally, the removal of graffiti was actioned across the town.

The ‘Spring Clean’ project forms part of the BID’s objective to ensure Newquay offers a ‘welcoming town centre’. The BID Business Plan highlights street cleaning as one of the most important areas of concern for businesses. BID promotes Newquay as the ultimate beach and lifestyle destination in the UK, and providing a positive, bright and welcoming town for those who visit, live and work here is vital to continue to change perceptions, and build positive experiences of the town.

Alongside co-ordination and funding of the project, BID has also requested deep cleans on areas of the town, reported business concerns, and monitored town cleaning with Cornwall Council contractors. BID is working on the following projects this year to promote a brighter town centre; the installation of hanging baskets, alongside Newquay Town Council; providing funding for Newquay in Bloom projects; final phases and updates to the wayfinding signage and the installation of Love Newquay banners.

The town cleaning was actioned prior to the start of the peak season, and will continue to be monitored throughout the year. Any BID members can report concerns related to town cleaning and the street environment to the team in BID office: info@newquaybid.co.uk
